Elliston and Limestone Cemetery Rules
Effective January 1, 2024
- Benton Township will maintain all lots.
- Decorations should be anchored to the stone.
- Plantings must be in a proper container and placed on the foundation.
- No planting is permitted in the grass.
- No decorations will be allowed in the grass during the mowing season.
- Any items not meeting requirements will be removed.
- Any decorations not properly displayed will be removed on March 15.
- Foundation orders for monuments must be made and paid in advance with the Township Fiscal Officer prior to May 1 and October 1 for completion each spring and fall, respectively.
- Vandalism, trespassing, and theft will result in prosecution of those involved.
- The cemetery is closed from sunset to sunrise.
- The Benton Township Trustees are in charge of the cemeteries. They will be strictly enforcing the current cemetery rules. Any irregular decorations must be pre-approved by the Board of Trustees. The Trustees reserve the right to remove any unapproved decoration from the cemeteries. Any concerns should be made to them or by calling the Office of the Fiscal Officer at 419-862-3774.
Elliston and Limestone Cemetery Clean-Up Dates:
- Spring: The deadline for spring cleanup at ELLISTON and LIMESTONE cemeteries is March 15. Wreaths, arrangements and other materials remaining after that date will be removed. New arrangements may be displayed beginning April 1.
- Fall: The deadline for fall cleanup at ELLISTON and LIMESTONE cemeteries is November 1. Wreaths, arrangements and other materials remaining after that date will be removed. New arrangements may be displayed beginning November 15.
The Benton Township Trustees and staff take great pride in the maintenance and upkeep of the Elliston and Limestone Cemeteries. The fees that are charged are/or the future upkeep of the cemeteries and keeping the lawns and all maintenance well kept for loved ones that were laid to rest. The Benton Township residents also take pride in going to the cemetery and seeing such a well-kept cemetery.
